InternetRetailing.com.au is an ongoing work in progress and passionate labour of love encompassing everything to do with selling online in Australia.

The site is the work of Mark Freidin, Nathan Huppatz and a few others.

Mark, is a  passionate online retailing crusader, advocate, and internetaholic. Mark has had experience in a variety of industries from manufacturing to  executive roles advising and project managing national retailers on enterprise resource planning systems (ERP) and multi channel retailing incorporating ecommerce and back-end integration. Mark has a strong multi dimensional approach to online retailing, understanding the delicate synergies  required to make an online retailing project sustainable and successful. Mark is currently the COO of one of Australia's top online retailers.

Nathan Huppatz, has been in the online retailing space for more than 10 years. Well versed in search engine marketing (SEM) and search engine optimisation (SEO), content management systems (CMS), eBay integration platforms, online media and API development and a multitude of other skills, he is well placed to advocate the online retailing space. With his business partners, he also runs multiple retail sites as well as online publications.

This site  features commentary by Mark and Nathan as well as carefully selected relevant content from a broad variety of Australian and international contributors and sources.

The concept of this site came about in 2006 when Mark started to notice how the UK and American markets had embraced online retailing so effectively. Furthermore there were Internet retailing websites representing the channel that sprung up first in the USA (ten years ago to be exact) and then in the UK (approximately four years ago), both becoming extremely popular.

Some research indicated that a high percentage of Australian users had access to the Internet and  broadband prices had started to drop and there was a rapid rise in the uptake of broadband, followed by wireless Internet connectivity. Furthermore there were already some successful multi department Australian online retailers that were going from strength to strength. There was enough evidence that online retailing could have a future in Australia.

Mark started to investigate content management systems, hosting packages, and the market as a whole. In June 2008 Mark and Nathan met to discuss the concept of Internetretailing.com.au. Nathan immediately agreed to come on board as co founder,adviser and an ambassador of online retailing in Australia.

The site has been a work in progress ever since then. There were many emails and phone calls to online retailers and vendors to establish whether the site was a good idea and how best to go about bringing the site to fruition, what kind of content it should have etc. It  has evolved to what you are looking at now, and it will grow from here!

We believe that online retailing in Australia will continue to take  off in a big way. We passionately want to assist people and businesses to understand that the Internet is just another channel of doing business and can aid businesses in growth  through better communication. We would also like to eliminate institutional paralysis that seems to exist in many businesses. From our experience, traditional retailers due to no fault of their own, just do not understand the online channel, and we hope to bridge this gap through information and education and discussion.We want to bring online retailers and vendors together at one central point. We intend to be more than  just a website.

It is our VISION to be  the soul of internetretailing in Australia
